Where did it all start? Well, Black White Denim started life as a light-bulb moment over drinks with friends. Jo Davies was attending a friend’s
and was asked, as part of a game, to describe the mother-to-beʼs wardrobe in just three words. Jo wrote, “black, white and denim”. All the ladies around the table agreed that this was the secret to how the mother-to-be looked stylish and put-together, no matter what. The seed of inspiration was sewn. Fast-forward to September 2010 and Jo had located and opened her Wilmlsow-based boutique in Cheshire (UK) and brought on board a whole host of the worldʼs biggest designer labels. Jo carefully edited their collections to their core in black, white and denim components, to make shopping the season, effortless. Jo then opened her online store in March 2011, taking her concept to the world. What is Black White Denim? Black White Denim makes looking effortless, easy because we stick to the three fundamental building blocks of a stylish woman’s wardrobe: black, white and denim. We inject seasonal colour through coloured denim, footwear, accessories and certain must-have pieces, not available in black, white or denim. The key to effortless style, no matter what the season or occasion, is to build your wardrobe on a foundation of black, white and denim, everything else will fall neatly into place. Effortless, made easy. Everything we do here at Black White Denim, from the way we keep in touch with our customers and how we style them in-store, to how we operate our fabulous website and merchandise our boutique windows aims to make shopping fabulous premium fashion, as easy and effortless as possible. Our customers are time-pressed working and non-working women, who still want to look good when they’re running their home, business and busy diary. Black White Denim has made quite the fuss in our short-lived history so far. The lovely ladies at British Vogue call us a winning combination and have ranked us as one of the UK’s Best Boutiques for 2012 and 2013. Industry magazine, Drapers, have also praised our efforts listing us within their Top 100 Inspiring Independent Businesses list as #6 in 2012 and #4 in 2013. The gorgeous girls at Stella Magazine popped us in their Top 50 Boutiques outside of London 2012 list and a magazine closer to home, Manchester Confidential, listed us as the Best North West boutique in 2010. Black White Denimʼs MD and Founder, Jo Davies, became the everywoman in Retail Leader of the Year 2012 at the annual awards and regularly appears in print and broadcast media talking on subjects relating to retail and the fashion business (always impeccably turned out, of course).
